Additional Needs
We do not discriminate against children with additional needs or disabilities. Both the Nursery and the parents will however need to be satisfied that we are able to provide the facilities to cater for the well-being and welfare of the child, additionally the Nursery must consider the affect on the existing children and staff of the admission of the child.
When a child with special educational needs is admitted to the nursery, the SENCO and Key-person will work closely with the child’s parents, other professionals and other settings, if applicable, to ensure smooth transition and admission for the child in line with our Transition, Continuity and Inter-agency Working Policy.
Partnership with the parents, nursery staff and other professionals who have contact with the child is essential to provide the best care, identify needs and provide appropriate learning opportunities. Individual care and learning plans will be devised as required.
